About the lecture
Two and a half millennia after his death, what does the Analects still have to say to us? Prof. Anne Cheng, holder of the Chair in the Intellectual History of China at the Collège de France, returns to a question she has spent four decades reframing: how a thinker from the Spring and Autumn period continues to shape moral life across cultures today.
The evening begins with a short reading of selected passages — in classical Chinese, then in modern French translation — followed by an open conversation moderated by the Center's director.
